When Steinbach Pistons players move to Steinbach, they are placed with families from the community that play an important part in the player’s success with the team.

Host families are expected to provide  a room and meals for the players but also welcome them into their home and provide support when needed.

Playing for the Pistons means the majority of our players leave home for the first time when they are 17 or 18 years old to live with a host family in Steinbach. This can be a very rewarding experience for our players and host families. Some of our players suit up for the Pistons for multiple years, often staying with the same host family and building lifelong relationships. Host families of junior hockey players are known to keep in contact and to see them for years after our players are done playing junior hockey.

The Pistons cover the cost of our players living in your home and provide other perks, but the biggest reward is helping our players make the transition to becoming young men that are ready to pursue their dreams when they leave our organization.

All potential host families must participate in an in-house interview. This includes a tour of your home and completing a brief questionnaire in order for us to make a compatible match with the player and your family. The Steinbach Pistons require all of our host families to meet the high standards the organization has set. Our players are also required to respect their host families and the standards the team has in place.
