The Steinbach Pistons are excited to announce that graduating forward Kasyn Kruse has committed to the St. Mary’s University Cardinals of NCAA Division III.
The Luverne, Minnesota native was acquired by the Pistons in late November from the Swan Valley Stampeders, and scored 2 goals and 8 points overall in 26 games played with Steinbach during his final junior season.
“We are very excited for Kasyn as he makes the jump to college hockey,“ Head Coach/GM Paul Dyck said. “Kruser brought a lot of energy to our lineup and a strong commitment to working on his game. We wish him all the best as he begins his career at St. Mary’s.”
The school is located in Winona, Minnesota in the southwest corner of the state, four hours west of Kruse’s hometown. The Cardinals currently compete in the MIAC conference that is a part of NCAA Division III.
“I chose St. Mary’s because it’s a great school that has a lot to offer,” Kruse explained of his commitment. “The campus is very nice and the school provides the majors I want to pursue.”
Kruse spent two seasons in the MJHL and was a part of a Stampeders team in 2019 that made it all the way to the Turnbull Cup final, and gave the Pistons much needed experience amongst the forward group. He says his favorite memories are hanging out with his teammates on Bachelor Mondays as well as going to Boston Pizza after every game.
“The Pistons have an amazing coaching staff and have helped me excel my game on the ice, but also off,” he said. “Being part of this successful organization is something I’ll always remember and be proud of.”
The Pistons would like to congratulate Kasyn and his family on the commitment to St. Mary’s University!
